Christian Light meets at West Overland Bible Church at 2724 Ashby Rd, Overland, MO 63114.

Classes take place on Wednesdays, from 2-4 pm each week, with brief closing tasks assigned to each family for a typical departure by 4:15 pm. This will be longer for the dress rehearsals in the spring.

A calendar will be provided at the orientation meeting 8/26/2026.  Registration fees ($50 for an individual student or $75 per family) are due on the first week of classes, on 9/2/2026.

About Christian LIGHT
Christian LIGHT is a homeschool cooperative. This means it is completely volunteer-driven, and parent-supported.  Each family must supply a parent who will actively participate each week.  Families are also responsible for their own children's costumes and for contributing props for performances. Parents are responsible to supervise homework, and help students learn lines at home.

A nursery area can be available for moms with little ones. If the need exists, and adequate volunteers are available, a parent-staffed nursery may be provided.  This will be determined after registrations are fully received, and prior to the first week of classes.

Drama is more than theater. Theater is part of drama. The focus of theater is to perform. The focus of drama is to engage an audience, explore presence and emotion, discover history and culture from another person's perspective, develop communication skills, and discover hidden abilities by experimenting in art, music, and technology.

Students will further explore formal oral communication, including monologues, public speaking, recitation, readers theater, the use of props and visual aides, body positioning, voice control.  Understanding audiences, and researching for presentations will be discussed in class.  

Students will discover and experience improv, music and movement, and interactive dialogue.

All students will develop and apply skills to communicate feelings and abstract concepts through voice control, body language and overall theatrical performances.

Students will learn and apply theater etiquette.

At the end of the fall semester, students will demonstrate their newly acquired and practiced drama skills with friends and family at our annual variety show.

In the spring semester, students will engage in scenery and prop making, and play performing as they prepare to perform in a play.
A Note About Safety and Expectations
Christian LIGHT Cooperative is a guest ministry of West Overland Bible Church and will abide by the directives of the church to provide a safe and healthy experience for all involved.  Briefly, this means that no student is to travel the building without an adult escort, and that 2 adults should be present in each class.
 
Every family will have a closing assignment.  This includes general clean-up and room resetting processes. Families will sign in and out, in order to have an accurate head-count in case of emergency.
