Yachting Recognition Awards nominations will be reviewed by the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC) and will be determined by a vote of the members of the Board of Directors.  When preparing nominations please keep in mind the following.

Eligibility: Club members, spouses, and dependents; junior sailors and members of the Sailing Center; and other individuals who received national recognition for yachting accomplishments.

 (Accomplishments for July 2025- August 2026)

Selection Criteria for Individuals Who:

•   Have distinguished themselves and brought honor to the St. Petersburg Yacht Club by outstanding performance in national or international yachting competition.

•   Have accomplishments in race or event management of such significance as to draw national or international recognition.

•   Through long and noteworthy service distinguish themselves to an unusual and unique degree.

•   Meet the criteria for the following Trophies:

Ø  SPORC [SPYC Ocean Racing Challenge]: for SPYC skippers and crew who compete in ocean racing events for (WFPHRF) handicap rated vessels.

Ø World Champions Trophy: for members who have won world championships as skippers in one design regattas or match racing world finals.

Ø Donald E. White Cruising Trophy: for a cruiser who has embarked on a long voyage in 2021.

Ø America’s Great Loop Cruiser’s Award: official recognition through the AGLCA.

Ø Circumnavigation Awards: for members who have traveled great distances outside the continental United States.

Ø Pat Seidenspinner Award for Leadership & Service: for a female SPYC member who advances the club to improve its stature within the membership, to nonmembers, the sailing community, or other organizations; who is seen as a mentor to others.
