Urgent Relief for MCI-Norfolk Unit 1-1
On Sunday December 1st at 2:30 PM a fire start on the top floor of unit 1-1 at MCI-Norfolk. People were evacuated and no one was harmed. It took several fire departments about an hour to stop the fire leaving the entire unit displaced. Those housed on the top floor have completely lost all of their belongings including clothing, shoes, legal paperwork, pictures, electronics, books etc.

It was reported that the fire departments had to empty approximately a foot of water into the unit to stop the fire. Between the fire, water, and smoke damage, people have lost everything. https://www.turnto10.com/news/local/fire-at-mci-norfolk-december-1-2024
