COMMITTEES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS
The following committees are formed to plan and organize specific events. Commitment includes the time spent planning the event and the event itself. 
The Movie Night Committee works under the VP Hospitality to organize the Fall Movie Night in October. Tasks include choosing the movie and renting the screen, organizing snacks for sale, and coordinating food trucks.

This committee requires 2-3 volunteers and the time commitment is about 2-3 hours of planning and 3 hours at movie night.

The Scholastic Book Fair Committee works under the VP Events to organize the Scholastic Book Fair in October. Tasks include sending out book fair info to the school, scheduling volunteers, setting up and taking down the book fair in the media center, and working with other board members to coordinate Donuts with Grownups during the Book Fair.

This committee requires 2-3 volunteers and the time commitment is about 3 hours.

The Carnival Committee works under the VP Events to organize the Spring Carnival in April. Tasks include coming up with a theme, booking food trucks and vendors (inflatables, magician, fairy hair, etc.), creating games and decorations, selling wristbands and tickets as well as concessions.

This committee requires 6-10 volunteers and the time commitment goes from February to April.

COMMITTEES FOR CELEBRATIONS/PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
The following committees are formed to plan and organize smaller items throughout the year. Roles and tasks can be split amongst committee members during the school year.
The Sunshine Committee works under the VP Hospitality to: organize welcome bags to incoming kindergarteners, new students and new staff; leave a small birthday treat in teacher mailboxes once a month; and plan and execute staff appreciation. 

Our goal is to have at least half a dozen volunteers on this committee which would make the time commitment about 1 hour/month.

The Health & Wellness Committee works under the Advocacy Committee Chair to organize school events such as Walk/Bike-to-School Days, Operation Gratitude and Candy Drop (after Halloween), Maniacs Marathon and Health & Wellness Month (and Fair).

Our goal is to have at least half a dozen volunteers on this committee. You can also choose to volunteer for one of the listed H&W events. Time commitment varies per event.

The Spirit Wear Committee works under the VP Ways and Means to design and order new spirit wear.  If you love graphic design or have great ideas for new products that students, staff, and parents would love, this committee is for you.

This committee requires 1-2 volunteers. Time commitment is roughly 1-2 hours for each type of spirit wear product ordered.

The Yearbook Committee creates the school's yearbook under the guidance of the Yearbook Coordinator and with the administrative help of the Vice-President. Tasks are distributed between members of the committee and include determining a theme, designing the layout and pages, obtaining and uploading pictures, proofing, creating legacy ads, and distributing the yearbook.

This committee requires 5-6 volunteers. Time commitment depends on the task assigned but most of the work can be done remotely.

The Audit Committee reviews all check requests put forward to the PTA and approves them for the treasurer. The committee also performs monthly reconciliations and an end-of-year review

This committee requires 3 volunteers. Time commitment is roughly 20 min per week for the check requests, 1 hour per month for the reconciliation.

COMMITTEES FOR STUDENT CLUBS/PROGRAMS
The following committees are formed to help run student clubs/programs/competitions.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international team-based problem-solving competition for students at MPE in grades 2-5. For more information, see our website page about Odyssey of the Mind.

Reflections is a national arts competition and is open to all students at MPE. The Reflections Committee is responsible for collecting the artwork, finding judges, submitting winning artwork to the Wake Council PTA and organizing the celebration for all Reflections participants.

SPECIFIC ROLES
The following are specific roles we are looking to fill to help the PTA run smoothly. 
The Room Parent Coordinator is in charge of organizing and training the room parents. He/she is the medium between board members and room parents: information from board members is sent via the coordinator to room parents so it can be forwarded to all classroom parents.

Time commitment is 2-5 hours of work in Sept/Oct to compile room parent directory and have room parent training; 1 hour/month in emails; 1-3 hours in the spring to handle raffle basket organization.

The Social Media Director is in charge of creating content and posting on Facebook, Instagram and X.

Time commitment is posting twice a week on average - this will be more frequent leading up to big events and less frequent at other times.

The Audit Committee Chair is in charge of the Audit Committee (as described above: check requests, reconciliation and end-of-year review). He/she is an individual selected by the board officers and is a voting member of the board.

The Advocacy Committee Chair is in charge of the Advocacy Committee (Health & Wellness programs described above and other programs advocating for students). He/she is an individual selected by the board officers and is a voting member of the board.

The Nominating Committee Chair is in charge of the Nominating Committee who actively recruits new PTA volunteers and potential new board members. He/she is an individual selected by the board officers and is a voting member of the board.
