Statement
of Faith
1. We
believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. (2
Timothy 3:16-17)
2. We
believe God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the
father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, born of a
virgin, was God, came in human flesh, being fully God and fully man,
except without sin. (Deuteronomy
6:4, Matthew 1:23 & 28:19, John 1:1-4, 14 & 10:30, II
Corinthians 5:21 & 13:14)
3. We
believe in the fall of man; although originally created in the image
of God, through the disobedience of Adam, man fell into a sinful and
spiritually impotent state, totally unable to justify himself before
God. (Genesis
2:7, & 3:6, 17-19, Romans 5:12, 18-21, & Galatians 5:16)
4. We
believe Christ’s death provides substitutionary atonement for our
sins. He literally rose bodily from the dead. (Luke
24:46-47, Ephesians 1:7-8, I John 1:9 & 2:1-2)
5. We
believe salvation is offered as a gift–free to the sinner. This
gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any
personal works, but in the sacrificial death and resurrection of
Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians
2:8-9, Acts 4:12, Romans 5:15-17, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10 &
Romans 6:23)
6. We
believe Jesus will literally come to earth again in the Second
Advent. (Acts
1:11, Colossians 3:4, & I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
7. We
believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all
life, “each after its own kind”, by direct act. (Genesis
1 and 2, Colossians 1:16-17, John 1:3, Psalm 33:6)
8. We
believe that God created men and women in the image of God and that
marriage, as God ordained, has only one meaning and that is marriage
sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman spiritually and
physically, in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture
(Genesis
1:27, Matthew 19:4-6).

Christian
Home Educators in Lowndes County is a support group composed of
Christian parents in the Lowndes County, Mississippi area that have
chosen to homeschool their children. Parents applying for CHELC
membership must sign this commitment to uphold CHELC Standards. As
a member of CHELC:
1.
I will be diligent to be Christ-like in my conduct.
2.
I will consistently uphold and train my family in Biblical standards.
3.
Because I am representing CHELC when my family and I attend official
CHELC assemblies (i.e. meetings, fellowships, park days, field trips,
etc.), I will make sure that my and my children’s dress and
appearance is neat and modest. When I am in doubt as to what is
appropriate, I will choose dress that is conservative.
4.
I will supervise and require respectful conduct from my children at
all official CHELC assemblies that my children attend with me.
5.
I understand that CHELC membership is for my immediate family and me
only. I am not permitted to bring guests or extend invitations to
others outside my immediate family to any official CHELC assembly
without prior confirmed permission from CHELC leadership.
