29029 is an endurance event unlike any other. Participants are challenged with gaining 29,029 vertical feet, the summit elevation of Everest, in under 36 hours by hiking up a mountain, taking the gondola down, and repeating. It is not a race but a challenge of athlete against the mountain. At 29029, our participants eat together, camp together, and hike together. The community at the event and bonds formed are truly unique. Our Volunteers and Staff are a critical part of that community. Some of the most impactful experiences of our participants are brought about from the high-fives and encouragement they receive from our volunteers. We hear time and time again that those on the mountain helped them push beyond their perceived limits and achieve more than they thought they could.
At 29029, our volunteers help support the aid stations we have available to our participants along their hike route to the summit. In addition to the high-fives and encouragement, volunteers help keep the station stocked with supplies and organized throughout the event.
As part of volunteering at our event, volunteers will each receive a branded tee shirt, decal, chapstick, sunscreen, and a meal to keep them fueled on the mountain. Additionally, volunteers that are able to cover 2 shifts or the overnight shift (shift #4) will receive a 29029 hat.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide travel or lodging for volunteers. Camping at the premises is not allowed. Note that this is a private event and will not be open to view unless you are registered as a participant or volunteer in advance of the event. Please feel free to reach out to Scott@29029everesting.com if you have any questions and we hope to see you on the mountain!
