Tier 1: Participates in one-off events, supervises students in a group setting.
Example: Field trip chaperone. Tier 1 Volunteers should never be in 1:1 settings with a student. (For example, on a field trip, if helping to escort students to a public restroom, the volunteer should only go with a group of students, not a single student) Exception: Field Trip chaperones at P1 or below where there will be supervision of small groups of students without school staff will be considered Tier 3Tier 2: Performs a routinely scheduled service for the School in a group setting.
Examples: weekly library parent assistant, room parent, volunteer coaches. Tier 2 volunteers should never be in 1:1 settings with a student.
Tier 3: Performs a service at the school where there may be more personal or spiritual interaction with small groups of children. Also, field Trip chaperones at P1 or below where there will be supervision of small groups of students without school staff will be considered Tier 3
Examples: Volunteers at any overnight event, Youth pastors who have been invited to interact with ICS students, Roots group leaders who are not school employees, Camp or retreat speakers who have less structured access to students, Vida table leaders who are not school employees. Brief 1:1 interaction with students may occasionally take place, but only in a visible place and with the knowledge of other adults.
