Com base na performance “HUNTER" de Courtney May Robertson, esta masterclass explora a fronteira porosa entre o corpo vivo e materiais não vivos. Em “HUNTER", Robertson aparece ao lado de uma réplica de si própria em tamanho real. Com base na investigação que sustenta este trabalho, os participantes são convidados a experimentar estados corporais que diluem a divisão entre humano e objeto. Consideraremos a forma como a memória, o ambiente e as narrativas culturais informam as nossas interações com a matéria física, e como a construção de empatia para com formas “não vivas” pode emergir através de rituais de contacto. Os participantes irão co-criar paisagens imaginárias e novas possibilidades relacionais, questionando o que significa ser animado, inanimado, humano ou “outro”. Solicita-se aos participantes que tragam um objeto com significado pessoal, de qualquer tamanho e material, para a masterclass.

Rooted in Courtney May Robertson’s performance HUNTER, this masterclass explores the porous boundary between the living body and non-living materials. In HUNTER, Robertson appears alongside a life-sized doll replica of herself. Drawing from the research that underpins this work, participants are invited to enter embodied states that soften the divide between human and object. We’ll consider how memory, environment and cultural narratives inform our interactions with physical matter, and how building empathy toward ‘non-living’ forms can emerge through rituals of contact. Participants will co-create imaginative landscapes and new relational possibilities, questioning what it means to be animate, inanimate, human, or ‘other.’ Participants are requested to bring along a meaningful object, of any size and material, to the masterclass.
