About Fort Wayne Clay

Fort Wayne Clay is a place where people come to slow down, make with their hands, and grow into confident potters surrounded by a supportive community. It’s a space where clay isn’t just a material — it’s a way to learn, connect, and keep becoming.

Students and visitors come looking for something simple, easy, and convenient that still feels meaningful. They find small classes, clear skills progression, and a welcoming environment where encouragement and creativity go hand in hand. The studio exists to make learning pottery approachable while building a community rooted in kindness, curiosity, and growth.

The energy in the studio is friendly, creative, and collaborative. People help each other, share knowledge, and celebrate progress — and the retail team helps make that experience feel smooth and welcoming from the moment someone walks through the door.

The Dream

The vision is to become the place in the Fort Wayne area where people come to learn, grow, and connect through clay.

Over the next five years, that means expanding opportunities through workshops, artist shows, and continued growth in how the studio serves the community. Retail associates play an important role in that experience by helping keep the studio welcoming, organized, and easy for customers to enjoy.

Who We’re Looking For

The studio is looking for people who enjoy helping others and take pride in creating a space that feels warm, clean, and inviting. Extensive ceramics experience isn’t required — curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to learn matter just as much.

Ideal team members are:

  • Friendly, approachable, and comfortable talking with customers

  • Eager to learn about ceramics and the studio’s offerings

  • Organized and attentive to detail

  • Willing to help keep the space clean, stocked, and welcoming

  • Comfortable jumping between tasks and helping where needed

  • Excited to be part of a supportive community

Day-to-day responsibilities include helping customers glaze their pieces, keeping shelves clean and stocked, and floors clean, organizing customer work, answering questions about classes and programs, maintaining a tidy studio environment, and occasionally helping with creative tasks like painting windows.

Why This Matters

For many people, the retail area is their first experience with the studio. The right person helps make things feel simple, easy, and convenient while creating a warm first impression that keeps people coming back.
