Racism impacts all of us, though some disproportionately carry the burden. This space will allow us to start to acknowledge some of the hurts we continue to carry, to name them, and to see where others are at in their own journeys. For some we need healing from the hurts inflicted upon us, for others we need healing from the hurts we have knowingly or unknowingly inflicted. It is only when we start to heal our hurts that we can be sure we are not passing them on to others. When we grapple with our own shame or guilt, pain or trauma, we create the space to move forward. While our hurts may look different, compassion and empathy, in this safe space will allow us to connect with those underlying hurts. For this event, we will use a restorative circle process of sharing and listening.
In recognition of the different lived experiences of racism for those who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (BIPOC) and those who do not, this circle will have two distinct spaces. Individuals who identify as BIPOC may opt into a BIPOC Only space, if that feels like the better space for their own healing.
There are four topical circles related to anti-racism on each Wednesday evening of April from 7-8:30pm. You are welcome to attend one or all sessions as the topics are related but not overlapping. Each circle will be facilitated by experienced DCPT RJ circlekeepers.

Restorative Justice, or "RJ," is a philosophy and set of practices that engage the community in building relationships and repairing harm through inclusive dialogue, deep understanding, and shared power.
RJ processes are powerful catalysts for truth-telling, healing, and growth through the collective confrontation of pain and challenges. RJ operates through two central ideas: harm can be faced, and harm can be healed.
