We are so happy that you are interested in joining the GLC team for the summer of 2022. Your role as a Team Intern is absolutely CRITICAL to the operation of camp, and you will play a major role in each camper's experience. Please read the following description carefully to better understand the expectations and tasks that come with this role, and decide for yourself if this is the right opportunity for you!

YOUR COMMITMENT:
- Intern orientation & training : Afternoon & evening of Saturday, July 9th
- Camp dates: Sunday, July 10 - Friday, July 15th
(Clean-up happens after campers leave on Friday - everything is generally completed by the late afternoon)
- Interns are expected to cover the cost of their room and board for the week - $500
- Interns must have their own transportation to and from camp

** While camp is in session you will need to be physically able to be present with your group starting first thing in the morning (helping to wake the girls up and get them out of the dorm for breakfast), during workshops and activities, and then helping to facilitate Circle Talk in the evening and getting everyone quieted down for bed. Breaks throughout the day will need to be coordinated with your Team Leader and other Interns, but the expectation is that you are ready to step up and participate, assist the Team Leader, and guide the girls at any point throughout the day.

INTERN TASKS:
- Guide group to activities around campus and ensure they arrive and depart on time to stick to the schedule
- Help Team Leader to organize and prepare campers for any off-campus activities.
- Engage with campers during down-times between workshops and activities - leading games, encouraging letter writing, art projects, Ripple Journal reflection etc.
- Work with Team Leader and other Interns to take turns waking the girls up in the morning, ensuring they are all out of the dorm and off to their first activity on time.
- Be aware of camper interactions and actively step in to both encourage positive behaviors, conversations and actions, and catch early signs of the negatives in order to address issues immediately.
- Keep Team Leader and Intern Coordinator aware of any issues or concerns that may lead to problems within the group. Actively stay engaged with each camper in order to know when something is off, and address it early on with the guidance of your Team Leader, a Lead Facilitator and/or the Intern Coordinator.
- Participate in activities and conversations in a way that encourages the campers to engage, without taking over activities, dominating conversations or excluding the campers roles.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR THIS ROLE:
- Present yourself in a way that models the GenChg values (inclusivity, challenge-by-choice participation, positive encouragement)
- NO cell phone use during the week
- Work as a team with your Team Leader and other Interns to form a cohesive unit that supports the experience of the campers and the overall message of GLC
- Keep in open communication with the Intern Facilitator so she can help with any questions or concerns, and celebrate your wins during the week!

YES, this is tiring! This is (one reason) why we only do camp for one week! It's a lotta work! ;) But trust us, it is completely worth it. At the end of the week you will be exhausted AND full of excitement from getting to be a huge part of a positive and empowering experience for dozens of young girls!
