We’re looking for data governance policymakers across Africa who are passionate about advancing gender-responsive and feminist approaches to data governance to join a unique co-creation process.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the Policymakers’ Edition of Gender Data Futures: A Handbook on Transformative Data Governance - a reimagined version of the Handbook originally developed by Pollicy, crafted specifically for your community. Through a collaborative “translation” process, we’ll turn the original handbook into a more concise, accessible, and action-oriented resource, one that makes the gender transformative approach a practical and powerful tool for policymaking in the data governance space.
Who Should Apply?
This process is specifically for policymakers and government actors working on data governance. You are a good fit if you:
Work in government, a public agency, or an institution involved in shaping data policy
Contribute to or influence decisions around data governance, digital policy, or regulation
And are interested in strengthening gender-responsive and intersectional approaches to data governance
Why participate?Co-create a resource that will influence how governments think about and implement data governance from a gender perspective;
Be recognised as a contributor and/or co-author in the published version;
Collaborate with a group of like-minded policymakers advancing inclusive and ethical data ecosystems.
Time commitment All activities will take place online and include:
2 hours of Handbook reading, review, and feedback — completed at your own pace by 5 January 2026
4 hours of virtual co-creation sessions — held between 5–16 January 2026
5 hours for the optional Co-Authoring Working Group — a hands-on opportunity to shape and draft the Policymakers’ Edition between 16 January and 10 February 2026
As this is a collaborative and time-sensitive process, we kindly ask that only those with the necessary availability apply. Please apply by 10 December 2025. As spaces are limited, participation will be confirmed based on a selection process. Participation in this initiative is entirely voluntary and does not include financial compensation.
Join us in co-creating knowledge that moves us closer to a fairer, more inclusive data future.
