2019 RNSIT Highland Dance Team Audition
The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a world-class international, cultural event held annually in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Highland Dance Team is now accepting applications from Premier level dancers interested in taking part in the show.

Tattoo performances run from June 29 to July 6, 2019. All dancers are required to to perform in every show. No exceptions. Please note that there are four matinee shows. Full day practices are expected to commence on June 22, 2019. All dancers are expected to be in attendance by this date. A schedule for practices prior to June will be distributed upon acceptance to local dancers. Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory for all dancers.

Dancers from the Halifax area must be a minimum of 14 years of age as of June 22, 2019. Dancers from outside the Halifax area are encouraged to apply and must be a minimum of 19 years of age as of June 22, 2019. Dancers from outside the Halifax area will receive Tattoo sponsored accommodations and food vouchers for lunch and dinner.

At the end of the application form you will be prompted to submit an unlisted YouTube link of yourself dancing a 4+2 Seann Triubhas and a 5 step Hornpipe. Please use the 2019 SOBHD Championship and Premiership steps. Dancers will be evaluated based on both technique and presentation and must be in a full hornpipe and kilt outfit with matching jacket and socks.

Please have your dance teacher send a letter of reference directly to highlandns@gmail.com. This step is not necessary if a reference letter has been submitted within the previous two years as we still have your reference letter on file. The letter must not come from a dancer’s own email account. It should be a maximum of one page in length and address why the applicant is interested in being a part of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Highland Dance Team and why he/she should be considered. The letter should also speak to the applicant’s personality and how he/she:
- interacts with others and works in team-based scenarios;
- handles pressure, last minute changes, and long practices;
- respects punctuality, rules, authority figures and teammates.

All application forms, videos and reference letters must be submitted by midnight on January 13, 2019. Partial applications will be disqualified if not completed on time.

If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth McCorkell and Marla MacInnis at highlandns@gmail.com.
