Seed Grant Application - 2019
Herbalists Without Borders is pleased to offer donations of seeds to members and Chapters of Herbalists Without Borders. These seed grants are designed to enhance the nutritional, social, economic, or environmental health of communities. Priority is given to projects that will benefit underrepresented groups, seed saving, or the communities of our Chapters.

Examples of successful seed grants include; learning gardens, urban strip gardens, demonstration gardens for seed libraries, community therapy or rehabilitation gardens, senior center gardens, children’s gardens, container gardens at local apothecaries, community gardens, seed bomb project, Chapter seed libraries, Chapter seed banks, growing medicinal herbs, gardening to donate vegetables or herbs to food pantries.

Seed grant kits will contain a variety of medicinal plants, flowers, vegetables, and greens based on our current seed donations, availability, and number of applicants.

You may create a seed library or seed bank, share seeds within your community, give them out for free, or use them for your own Chapter projects. All of these seeds have been donated by seed companies who hope to see the results of their donations. As a condition of getting a seed grant, we ask you complete a follow up report in a few months, and take photos of seed starting activities, seed swaps, planting days, your garden in bloom, harvesting day, etc. Please check the box that you understand a condition of this seed grant is that you will send photos and report information about your use of the seeds from this grant. *
The seeds are granted free - we only ask for you to cover shipping and packaging costs. Upon your seed grant kit approval, we will email you a link to the shipping payment page where you can checkout and pay for the shipping. Shipping fees must be paid before the seeds will ship. *
Availability: These requests will be reviewed and then granted on a first come first serve basis, and the priority is first to HWB current members and Chapters. All grants are based on availability and we will close the grant application when all seeds marked for the seed grant program are spoken for. We are unable to send specific plants upon request as we have a very limited amount of the seed varieties, but will try to ship according to zone/region. HWB reserves the right to assign you a different size seed grant than you request based on seed demand. Be sure to click submit on this form!
