Birth You Desire's: Birthing Again Childbirth Class Registration
Congratulations on your pregnancy! It’s an exciting time full of many changes. It is my intention to be a resource for you and a facilitator for all that you want to learn through these months. I would like to outline some general information about the BYD classes so that you are clear about what to expect.
Time: 1- 4 pm Saturday afternoons
. I make every effort to cover everything on time. Everyone benefits when class begins and ends on time. However, I am aware of the challenges of busy schedules. If you know that you are going to be late please, try to call.
Location: Classes are virtual on zoom from the comfort of your own home. Classes are informal! Please dress comfortably and have 2 pillows as we will be doing floor exercises, relaxation techniques, and sitting on the floor.
Food and Refreshments: Feel free to eat and drink as needed.
Fees and payment: The fee is $155.00 for a refresher class. Insurance and flex spending receipts are provided by request. Handouts are included in the fee. A $55.00 non-refundable deposit is due in advance to reserve your place. Full payment is due by the start of the class. If you need to drop out of the class your $55 deposit is not refundable.
Our Job: We are independent professional teachers having received extensive training from various childbirth associations. I am also a doula and a birth assistant, who was a naturally birthing mother herself. My role is to guide you through a learning process, which contributes to making educated choices through your pregnancy, labor, and birth in the presence of normality. The information given in class is not medical advice.
Informed Consent: Every medical situation is unique. Education in advance gives parents background information, but information about specific problems can only be obtained at that time. Informed consent is an understanding at the time of the situation. Information for informed consent must be specific to the individual or mother. Natural childbirth classes teach you normality, not medicine. We encourage you to have open communication with your birth team so that you can have the safest and best birth possible. In order to give true informed consent for medical procedures, the parents must obtain information from many sources in advance: books, libraries, classes, doctors, midwives, hospitals, and directly from their practitioner at the time treatment is being considered.
Your Responsibility: In order to prepare for giving birth, you must do your part. Reading outside of class and reviewing and practicing the information covered in class will make a great difference in your birth experience. I will provide the information, but it is up to you to make your own decisions. You will get as much as you put into these classes or more. The decisions and responsibilities are yours.
