On July 6th, the Building Brain Healthy Habits: Mindful Mondays series continues with Gregg Pacilio, PT, Rehab Director for HHSC Kauaʻi Region, leading an important discussion focused on fall prevention, head injuries, and their connection to long-term brain health. This presentation will explore how balance, strength, mobility, and physical activity play a critical role not only in preventing falls, but also in protecting brain function and maintaining independence as we age. Participants will learn about common risk factors for falls and head injuries, practical strategies for improving safety and stability, and the growing understanding of how injury prevention supports healthy aging and cognitive wellness. Gregg will also discuss simple ways to incorporate movement and fall prevention strategies into everyday life, helping participants build confidence, resilience, and healthier habits for both body and brain.

Building Brain Healthy Habits: Mindful Mondays, a community brain health series presented through a collaboration between the Alzheimer’s Association Hawaiʻi Chapter, HHSC Kauaʻi Region, and the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System. This series is designed to help our community learn practical, evidence-based strategies to support lifelong brain health and healthy aging through education, engagement, and connection. Each month, we will take a deeper dive into one healthy habit through an expert-led lecture, followed by two interactive activities at the Waimea Public Library designed to help participants engage with and practice the focused habit in fun, approachable, and community-centered ways. Together, we’ll explore simple lifestyle habits that support healthier brains, stronger bodies, and greater wellbeing.
