2021 NMGS Fall Field Conference: Planning Survey
In late 2020, a committee was formed to evaluate whether NMGS can offer the traditional fall field conference (FFC) in 2021. To help us plan whether and how we might run the field conference, we invite all members of NMGS to complete the following short survey to help us determine how to make a field conference safe under current and developing COVID conditions.

The FFC is intended to visit locations entirely within McKinley and Cibola counties, which at this time (April 23rd) are turquoise, under the New Mexico governor’s COVID-19 risk color designations. If they were to drop to a green designation, that would limit gatherings to 20 people. However, we are optimistic that with continued vaccinations, county color designations will remain at turquoise by the time of the FFC, allowing groups of up to 150 people to assemble. Also, at present, all persons in New Mexico are required to wear masks or cloth face coverings in public settings, as stated in the New Mexico Public Health Order. Mask wearing and maintaining social distancing are also strongly recommended by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention. We cannot predict what regulations are likely to be in force at the time of the FFC.

At this time, we are planning for an in-person FFC with these requirements for all attendees:
● Negative COVID test within three days of the trip
● Mask wearing
● Social distancing
● Personal vehicles with “pods,” groups or five individuals or fewer who agree to travel together
