ML Teacher of the Year

MABE is excited to introduce the Michigan ML Teacher of the Year Award! This new recognition celebrates outstanding educators who make a meaningful impact on Multilingual Learners across our state.

Nominees should be working directly with ML students for at least 75% of their day and have a minimum of three years of teaching experience. The nominee can be a content-area or dual-language teacher with a bilingual or ESL endorsement. We also ask that nominees have attended at least one MABE event within the past three years.

After the initial nomination phase, eligible nominees will receive a detailed application that includes references, years of experience supporting MLs, a brief bio, and a snapshot of a typical day working with ML students.

We can’t wait to honor the incredible educators who uplift Michigan’s multilingual communities every day! If you know someone who you think should be MABE ML Teacher of the Year, now is your chance to nominate them.

Deadline to submit is January 19th, 2026
