2019 SSML scholarship - STUDENTS
Each year, SSML awards travel scholarships to students who would like to attend the conference, made possible by a long-time member, the late Joseph Wydeven. SSML members are committed to supporting the work of young scholars and writers. This includes offering a Mentoring Cafe on Friday evening, and awarding a prize of $1,000 for the best student writing presented at the conference.

SCHOLARSHIPS INCLUDE . . .
1) An amount (based on the distance you have to travel) to subsidize travel costs, hotel, etc.

2) A ticket to the Awards Banquet on Friday, at which the Mark Twain and MidAmerica awards are presented (Bonnie Jo Campbell is the 2019 Mark Twain awardee and Dr. Christian Knoeller is the 2019 MidAmerica awardee).

3) A year's membership in the Society, which includes subscriptions to the two journals, MidAmerica and Midwestern Miscellany.

SCHOLARSHIPS DO NOT INCLUDE . . .
Conference registration fee of $40, which must be paid in advance of arriving at the conference. (This is new as of 2019, and is offset by an increased amount of scholarship funds to be awarded.)

DEADLINE FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION . . . January 31, 2019 (US eastern time zone)
