2019 NMALGBTIC 3rd Annual Conference: Rainbow Across the Lifespan Conference Date: September 21st from 9:00am-5:00pm SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 24th 2019 by midnight

We invite you to submit a proposal for the NMALGBTIC (New Mexico Association on LGBTQ Issues in Counseling) 3rd annual conference

The goal of this conference is to draw on the unique strengths of our collective community and our fellow counselors to inspire growth, efficacy, and diversity through the lifespan of the LGBTQ+ community.

The conference is on Saturday, September 21st from 9:00am-5:00pm. The conference will be held at Media Arts Collaborative Charter School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

We encourage proposals that may highlight creative processes, practices, methods, and techniques that address the distinctive challenges and strengths that the LBGTQ+ community face regarding mental health and wellness. Presenters should either hold a graduate degree in a mental health field or be a qualified professional with a specific expertise (i.e., teachers, community leaders).

SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS May 24th 2019 by midnight.

As attendees represent the diversity of the larger field of counseling as well as the general community, we invite potential presenters to consider the application of their work in the contexts of LGBTQ+ issues across the lifespan. Attendees may work in private practice, agencies, K-12, higher education, corrections, and within state and federal government. We ask that all presentations are compliant with ADA standards, and that presenters keep this in mind when developing activities for attendees.

a. All presenters must provide their own laptops and handout materials. Projectors and screens will be available in each room.
b. All proposals must be submitted electronically. Proposals submitted in any other format will not be considered.
c. Primary presenters must:
i. Hold a graduate degree in a mental health field from a regionally accredited educational institution; OR
ii. Be qualified by appropriate education, experience, and/or training to present/author the particular subject
matter, or author the publication concerning the subject matter. must hold an advanced degree (master’s or
higher) in a mental health field or demonstrate competency through appropriate education, training, or
professional expertise with regard to the topic presented.
d. Presenters are responsible for all travel expenses including but not limited to lodging, transportation, and meals.
e. Presenters may not submit presentations that in nature promote a product or service, or sell any products or services during the session. Presenters who wish to sell products or services must purchase exhibit space.
f. Presenters must register for the conference by (to be determined). If your presentation is selected for the 2019 conference, you will receive 20% discount on registration fees.

NBCC Approval Statement:
New Mexico Counseling Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 2032. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. New Mexico Counseling Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
