This application will be available from January 18th - February 16th. Only on-line applications will be accepted. Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, along with their parents, who are selected in this application round will be notified by February 28th and invited to TMS for a final interview with our STEM faculty on Thursday, March 23rd, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm starting in our cafeteria.
In order to serve more students we are planning to expand our 6th grade STEM program! We will select up to 104 rising 6th grade students for the 2017-2018 school year. Unfortunately, we will only have a limited number of rising 7th and 8th grade spaces available. Rising 7th and 8th grade students should still apply and will be ranked for a wait-list that will be used as spaces become available.
A student must be eligible to attend Tucker Middle School in order to apply for the STEM program. Additionally, a student needs to be classified as “At Grade Level” or “Above Grade Level” according to their 2017 Winter MAP Test score. This applies to both reading and mathematics. See tables below for eligibility:
Rising 6th Grade Eligibility: MAP Scores Mathematics 216+Reading 211+
Rising 7th Grade Eligibility: MAP Scores Mathematics 232+Reading 215+
Rising 8th Grade Eligibility: MAP Scores Mathematics 234+Reading 219+
We look forward to hearing from you! For additional information on the TMS STEM program and our admission requirements, please visit the S.T.E.M. section of the school website at http://www.tuckerms.dekalb.k12.ga.us/STEM1.aspx
