Cast and Crew Code of Conduct
I agree:
● To treat all participants with respect and courtesy.
● To use only appropriate and respectful language at all rehearsals, performances, or any functions or events associated with the production.
● To never behave in an abusive, exploitative, harassing, or threatening manner to other cast members or their families, crew members, or audience members.
● That if I experience, see, or suspect dangerous, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior I will speak up to remind those involved of our agreements, if the situation is a safe and appropriate place to take such action. And/or I may report the observed behavior to a member of the Production Team or our Board Liaison.
● That if another participant seeks assistance from me because they feel uncomfortable, scared, unsafe, or upset during any aspect of a production, I will assist in finding a safe situation/environment and report the incident as soon as possible to a member of the Production Team or our Board Liaison.
● I will use and treat LALT property, including but not limited to costumes, props, and scenery, respectfully and appropriately.
● I will handle only items that are for my use or that I have permission to handle.
● If I have a concern or complaint about a cast or crew member, I will talk to a member of the production team or the board liaison.
● I understand that any issues inhibiting professionalism, quality of participation, or especially safety may result in my immediate and permanent removal from the production and possibly from participation in future LALT events.
● I understand that I am expected to arrive promptly at rehearsals and performances and will be ready to start at scheduled rehearsal and call times.
● I will make every effort to attend all scheduled rehearsals and strike of set unless I have made previous arrangements with the director.
● I will notify the director and stage manager as soon as possible of anticipated absences from or late arrivals to or early exits from rehearsal.
● If an unanticipated event or emergency occurs that will make me late to or prevent me from attending rehearsal, I will notify the director or stage manager as soon as possible.
● I understand that I am expected to fulfill my obligations by participating in performances, and acknowledge that only a dire emergency will qualify to prevent me from performing/ participating at all scheduled shows.
● To abide by all decisions made by the director regarding the show. In the event I feel a mediation is necessary, I understand it is my responsibility to contact the show’s Board Liaison.
● To respect my director and their critique of my performance, and to work to implement improvements based on these critiques to the best of my ability.
● To work to improve my skills in performance, theatrical knowledge, and teamwork. To strive to be a team player with both cast and crew.
● To never argue with my director’s show-related decision during rehearsal. To meet with them at an appropriate time to discuss my views.
● To celebrate the good work of all participants and to avoid competitiveness. To comment about my fellow cast and crew in a positive manner and encourage fairness.
● To be responsible for my own safety as much as possible - I will be alert to prevent accidents.
● I understand that if I fail to meet the expectations described above I may be excluded from performing and lose my role(s).
● I understand that the director and producer will have the final decision regarding my fulfillment of the described expectations, and that disagreements with decisions made by the director or other member of the production team can be brought to the assigned Board Liaison for my show for mediation and resolution.
