2020 CFMA-SV Scholarship Application
The Construction Financial Management Association Silicon Valley Chapter (“CFMA-SV”) is offering four scholarships to eligible students for the 2020-2021 academic year. CFMA-SV awards scholarships to assist students with the cost of their books, classes, housing, tools and supplies needed to further their education.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
CANDIDATE GROUP A – CANDIDATES WITH A CFMA AFFILIATION:
If you are a member of CFMA-SV, or your parent is a member of CFMA-SV, or your parent is employed by the same company that employs the CFMA-CV member, then the following applies:

YOU MUST:
1) As of the fall 2020 semester, be enrolled full-time in an accredited junior college, college or university;
2) Your or your parents’ residence, OR your college or university, must be located in following counties: Santa Clara, San Mateo, Monterey, Alameda, San Benito, or Santa Cruz
3) Have maintained a cumulative 3.0 GPA for the past two years.


CANDIDATE GROUP B - Applicants with no CFMA-SV AFFILIATION MUST:

1) Satisfy requirements 1 through 3, above, AND
2) Presently have an intention to pursue a career in or closely related to an accounting, finance or construction-related field.

APPLICATION
1. SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT - Applicant must submit an official school transcript, sealed if by mail, or emailed directly from the school to pwalsh@alr-law.com

2. ESSAY - Applicant must submit an essay (500 – 1000 words, typed – double-spaced) detailing his/her interest(s) in the construction or finance industry, goals, and objectives. CFMA-SV member relatives may discuss their interest in any industry. Essay should include relative academic, work, and volunteer experience. Significant weight will be given to this essay.

3. Applicant may submit up to two optional letters of recommendation or advisor evaluations, limited to one page each.

4. The fully completed application, transcript, essay, and recommendation/evaluation letters must be received by CFMA-SV no later than May 1, 2020. Information that is not complete will not be considered

5. ALL QUESTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ANSWERED COMPLETELY
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1. Interviews of applicants may be requested.

2. Scholarship recipients will be announced during the first week of August 2020.

3. Scholarship recipients will be asked to attend a CFMA-SV 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting (Date Pending), in San Jose.

4. Scholarship recipients must submit a CFMA Student Membership Application. Upon receipt of the scholarship application, the student will be enrolled as a CFMA student member at no cost to the student.

5. Scholarship(s) will be disbursed to the winner(s) in August 2020 or as soon as verification of enrollment for the Fall of 2020 is presented.
