BriefAs part of Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s support to the implementation of the National Housing Policy, a National Housing Forum (NHF) is being organised for 27 June 2017, at the InterContinental Hotel Phnom Penh in Coopertaion with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction The Minister for Land Management Urban Planning and Construction, Senior Minister Chea Sophara has agreed to open the National Housing Forum and give a key note address.
The aim of the NHF is to create opportunities for housing sector stakeholders to discuss, debate, plan actions, and identify issues, needs, and challenges to the housing sector. It will also provide opportunities to improve consideration of the sector in national development (NSDP) planning processes, and to highlight the need to prepare for sub-national administrative considerations in Provincial, District, Municipal, and Commune/Sangkats planning processes. The objectives of the NHF are to:● Encourage discussions, debate and learning on housing sector related issues.● Provide a neutral, objective venue and an opportunity for multi-stakeholder multi-sector engagement and build a sector wide platform for sharing on innovative housing technologies practices and financing.● Identification and consensus on issues and priorities to promote scalable affordable housing solutions for Cambodia.● Identify areas for collaboration, research, development and possible action(s) on housing and related land issues and strengthen partnerships within and across housing and associated sectors.● Showcase successful projects and approaches and provide support to motivate individuals, organizations and the private sector to improve housing conditions, so more people have a decent and affordable place to live.
