Capitol Hill Briefing: Turbocharging Community College Pathways to the Future of Work and the Innovation Economy

REGISTER TODAY: The Congressional Community College Caucus co-chaired by Rep. Gus Bilirakis and Rep. Joe Courtney invites you to a briefing focused on the critical role community colleges play in fostering a vibrant and representative skilled technical workforce across STEM industries, including emerging industries shaping the future of work and the innovation economy, such as biotechnology, AI, and quantum computing.

About: Research from New America has emphasized community colleges' important role in meeting employer talent needs for existing and emerging technology industries. Investments in federal agencies such as the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), particularly following the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, have significantly expanded their support of community colleges to ensure that American technological leadership can be maintained abroad–and so more Americans can benefit from that leadership here at home by gaining the education and skills needed to secure good jobs in STEM and emerging technology areas.

As open access institutions with a clear local focus, community colleges are primed to serve students from all walks of life who wish to skill up or reskill into emerging sectors of STEM. Federal investments in programs run by NSF can accelerate community colleges’ ability to respond to employer needs in a timely manner in order to maintain the American workforce needed to continued global leadership.

Join the Community College Caucus to learn more about how community college pathways help realize the promise of a future of work and innovation economy for all Americans and why NSF funding is so critical to enabling them. Refreshments will be served.
