Discover the thrill of working with molten glass in this one day introduction to the art of flameworking! Flamework, also referred to as Lampwork, is the process of melting glass tubes and rods in front of an oxygen/propane torch. Flameworking borrows many of the same techniques used in the hot shop, but in a much smaller and intimate setting. The craft allows for a high level of detail, perfect for glass bead making and sculptural work. In this beginner level class, we will explore the basics of working with borosilicate glass in front of the flame. Topics will include; studio safety, basic tool use, use of a torch and compressed gasses, and melting clear and colored glass. Students can expect to take home several pieces of their own creation!
Supply List: Supplies will be provided by the instructor and are included in the cost of class.
