Please read the information below before submitting your form.
Upon completing this form and being contacted by our studio manager, you'll be asked to purchase kiln rental through our website. If you're unsure of how much space you need, our studio manager can help determine the best kiln fit for you. Kiln rental is to be paid before dropping off work.
Customers must know the clay’s firing temperature (cone#), the type of glaze you are using/what temperature (cone#) it matures at, and make sure it is a good fit for the clay.
No foreign materials such as newspaper or wood will be allowed. High temp wire is ok!
You are responsible for the cost of any damaged shelves if your glaze runs and sticks to the shelf ($25 for a half shelf - $50 for a full shelf)
Southern Star will only fire up to cone 6. We only fire oxidation in an electric kiln.
Pieces must be completely dry before firing. Do not bring them here to dry, we don't have the shelf space available. We are not responsible for any cracking, warping, etc.
Southern Star fires slow bisques and fast glazes – any requests for a slower firing will incur a $20 fee
Feel free to combine with a friend to fill a kiln but please submit all work under one form, with one contact person. We cannot split payments from our end, so please be prepared for one party to pay the entire fee.
If your work takes up more space than you originally asked for, we will do our best to fit it in the kiln, but you will be charged for additional space.
Southern Star reserves the right to reject Once-Fires going up to cone 6. If we decide to allow the firing the bottoms must be completely clean.
We will work with you to get your work fired and returned as quickly as possible, but please note that anything less than a 3-day turnaround may not be possible. We recommend bringing in your work with several days to a week of lead time before firing deadlines.

Small Kiln (21” wide x 25” deep) = $50
Large Kiln (26” wide x 25” deep) = $75
