DATES: Saturday thru Monday, June 22-24, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. each day. (Plus a friends/family showing immediately following the third workshop day.)
AGE RANGE FOR PARTICIPANTS: 13-19 years old - priority will be given to youth residing in Lake County.
COST: This 3-day workshop is valued at $300 per participant, but will be offered to teens in the Lake County Community *FREE OF CHARGE* due to the generosity of the artists, and fundraising by the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 15 people *Because capacity is limited, filling out this registration does not guarantee a slot. Please submit this registration form no later than June 15 and we will notify you whether your application is accepted as soon as possible after we receive it.) Participants will be selected based on their ability to commit to all 3 days of the workshop, as well as their description of why they want to participate.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: This workshop is designed to empower students of all disciplines, interests, and abilities to become storytellers and investigators of theatrical form, using various contemporary technique used by professionals and teachers across the country. We will guide participants to articulate their interests through dramaturgical and physical investigation to generate original theatre.
WHY THIS TRAINING: This type of training empowers young people by uplifting the idea that each human being has a story worth telling and empowers them to utilize the tools of the theatre to tell that story. This workshop will build confidence, cultivate skills in teamwork and collaboration, and instill a proclivity for rigor and critical thinking.
WHY LEADVILLE: Both instructors have a strong history with and connection to the mountains, specifically the West, Americana, and the small mining towns of Colorado. They are interested in working with communities to generate stories about their world and in reaction to the cultures and histories around them.
