Cycling Code of Conduct Acceptance Form
Parmiter's School encourages students to cycle to and from school and has provided a bike shed for the storage of bikes during school hours. However, before students can use this facility we ask you and your son/daughter to discuss and agree the following Code of Conduct.

PARENTAL AGREEMENT As parents/carers we agree to the following statements: (Please tick to indicate agreement).
We understand that it is our responsibility to ensure that our son/daughter is a competent cyclist.
We understand that it is our responsibility to ensure that our son/daughter is properly and safely equipped
We will provide a British Standard Helmet for every school journey.
We will provide high-visibility clothing and bicycle lights when appropriate.
We will provide a suitable roadworthy and maintained bike.
We will provide a suitable bike lock.
We understand that it is the responsibility of our son/daughter to ensure that the bike is properly secured to the bike rack.
We agree that the student should not ride the bike on school premises.
We agree that the student should take care around pedestrians and other road and pavement users.
We understand that Parmiter's School cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to our son/daughter or their bike if the decision is made that they can cycle to school.
Every student MUST comply with the following requirements: (Please tick to indicate agreement)
Be a competent cyclist.
Wear a British Standard helmet
Not wear headphones when cycling.
Not to ride their bike on school property. This includes the turning circle, the drive to the cycle sheds.
Ride sensibly and safely and to follow the Highway Code.
Ensure their bike is roadworthy and regularly maintained.
Behave in a manner which shows them and the school in the best possible light and to consider the needs of others when cycling.
Ensure they can be seen by other road users, by using bicycle lights and wearing high-visibility clothing, as appropriate.
