How are perceptions and assumptions about education changing?
The pandemic is disrupting public education in America, and it touches all of us. At the Center for Innovation in Education, we are curious about how people’s experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic might (or might not) be causing them to question some long-standing assumptions and ideas about public education. We wonder what shifting beliefs might mean for the future of education. And so, we invite you to share and learn with us by completing a short survey based on the phrase:
“I used to think… but now I think…, and… is what caused me to think differently.”
In this anonymous survey, we prompt you to reflect on 5 topics in education for which we perceive core beliefs might be shifting:
• The role of schools
• Family-teacher relationships
• Student learning
• Technology
• Equity
Each topic is optional – you do not have to respond to a topic if your perceptions have not changed (although we would be interested in hearing about that too!) And, we invite open reflection about anything else we didn’t explicitly prompt.
C!E will blog about the perspectives and themes that arise from this survey with the hope of fostering empathetic dialogue and improving our collective understanding of what the future of education might hold. We thank you for helping us see, hear, and reflect on what's changing for you.
