As concerned members of the Wake Forest community, we are asking that you follow federal immigration law and cooperate with federal law enforcement.
The safety of the Wake Forest campus and Winston-Salem community is paramount. By adopting radical sanctuary policies, Wake Forest University would prevent the enforcement of immigration law and prohibit local and federal law enforcement from doing their jobs.
According to a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, more than 8,000 criminal alien offenders were released from January to August 2014 due to state and local sanctuary policies. Of these 8,000 alien offenders freed by local law enforcement, 63% had prior criminal records and 25% were already felons.
If the university truly cares about the safety of its students and the Winston-Salem community at large, then they should not allow criminal aliens to evade law enforcement on our campus. Therefore, we are asking that you adopt the following, written policies:
1. The University shares information with ICE/CBP when they request information
2. The University allows ICE physical access to all land owned or controlled by the University;
3. The University allows campus security to inquire about or record an individual’s immigration status and to enforce immigration laws and to participate in ICE/CBP actions
4. The University uses E-Verify
Sincerely,Concerned Members of the Wake Forest Community
