Student Training Day at the 11th International Conference on the Mental Lexicon: Give Your Research the WoW Factor
As part of the Mental Lexicon Conference, Words in the World (WoW, a SSHRC partnered research training initiative) is organizing a student training day on Tuesday September 25th, 2018. The theme for the day is "making research accessible outside of academia". This will include sessions on how to write for a non-academic audience, principles of KT (Knowledge Translation) and how to incorporate these into your projects, how to pitch your research in 180 second video ("180 seconds to WoW"), and how to bring your research projects and findings outside the lab. More details will be provided closer to the day, but if you'd be interested in participating, please fill out this form.
180 Seconds to WOW: As part of the training day we’re inviting students to present their research in a format inspired by the 3-minute thesis. We will provide 2 on-line preparation sessions (one in August and in September) to guide you in the conception and preparation of your presentation. If you would be interested in participating, which of the following options would you prefer?
I would prefer to come with a video presentation already prepared (Note: there will be online tutorials available over the summer to help you prepare)
I would prefer to give a talk the day of and be recorded
I would prefer to receive training on how to create a video the day of and later submit a video presentation as part of a friendly competition
I would prefer to just be an audience member for the 180 seconds to WOW session
