Application for Spring 2020 Designing and Delivering Online Learning: A Certificate Program for Graduate Students
The Spring 2020 Certificate Program will be offered between January 27 and March 6 and is open to University of Minnesota Graduate Students and Postdoctoral participants.
Making use of the Canvas course site, participants will review select resources, participate in online activities, and discuss ideas with peers through discussion forums. Each week will consist of readings, online discussions and a Zoom meeting (on Thursdays from 3-4 p.m.). A short capstone project communicating your understanding of online learning in your discipline will be due on March 6. Participants should expect to spend approximately 4 hours per week completing readings, interactive activities, and zoom sessions during the seminar.
Participants in this seminar will explore online course design and delivery through six weekly topics:
Week 1 - designing the online course (Zoom meeting on 1/30 from 3-4 p.m.)
Week 2 - building community online (Zoom meeting on 2/6 from 3-4 p.m.)
Week 3 - managing online activities and discussions (Zoom meeting on 2/13 from 3-4 p.m.)
Week 4 - designing video and multimedia activities (Zoom meeting on 2/20 from 3-4 p.m.)
Week 5 - building online assessments (Zoom meeting on 2/27 from 3-4 p.m.)
Week 6 - motivating students and delivering feedback (Zoom meeting on 3/5 from 3-4 p.m.)
