Book a CityShapers Workshop Series (gr. 5-8)

Hands-on and land-based civic education workshops exploring municipal engagement, urban planning and climate and sustainability, rooted in justice, equity, and accessibility.

CityShapers in Schools offers a 2-part classroom-based workshop series that explores governancecivic engagement, and city planning through the lenses of climate action and housing equity. Interdisciplinary and interactive by design, CityShapers workshops support students to explore the diverse pathways towards civic and climate action in connection with the people and places they care about. Programs  are offered at a sliding scale and support curriculum areas in Social Studies and beyond.

*Priority is given to school bookings for 2+ classes at a time - Invite your colleagues to join in on the booking or book the program for a couple of your own classes.
*Sessions are designed to be offered consecutively across 2 blocks/days or spaced apart with one block/day buffer in between.

This program is delivered to classrooms across Metro Vancouver with a priority given to public schools that serve systemically under-resourced and equity-deserving communities.

Public school program delivery is not dependent on financial contribution but goes a long way in ensuring long-term program sustainability.

Please specify whether your school is in a position to financially support the program (suggested sliding scale of $25-$200 for public schools, $425-$600 for independent schools).
*Program expenses include 2 days of carshare rentals, facilitator volunteer honoraria, Indigenous consultant fees, staff time.

Program delivery to Independent schools is possible dependent on calendar availability & the school's ability to contribute financially.
