To be eligible to win a prize for the novice division, journeyman division, or workmanship contest:

-You must not walk bare foot.
-You must not bring with you live animals while on stage, unless they are a service animal.
-You must not bring with you real weapons or anything you can use as a weapon while on stage.
-If you have fake weapons, a volunteer must approve it before hand.
-You must not use pre-recorded music or sound effects while on stage.
-Your costume must have at least one hand-made, altered, or customized piece. This can be a costume piece, a style wig, the application of prosthetics, etc. 
-If you are wearing a costume made by someone else, you acknowledge that the person who created the costume is the person officially competing in the contest, and the rules below regarding awards and divisions apply to the person completing, not the person modeling.
-If your costume has already won major awards in previous Canadian costume contests, you must have updated, altered, or revamped the costume in some way to be able to re-enter it in another Canadian convention costume contest. 
-If you are under 12 years old, compete, and win a major prize, you are no longer allowed to drop back to any Canadian convention children’s contests to win prizes.
-You are allowed to say expressions, do dance moves, and make actions while on stage.
-You are allowed to bring other costumers, a family member, or a caretaker with you on stage.
-You consent to having your picture taken by a photographer while you are onstage.
