Life is Living Theater Stage Open Call for Performances
For the 11th annual Life is Living Festival in West Oakland, Youth Speaks and Cal Shakes are curating a theater stage celebrating BLACK AND BROWN FUTURES. We're featuring a mixtape of local artists conjuring liberatory futures through word, music, and movement. We are seeking submissions of 10-15 minute performances to appear on the theater stage.

WHAT: 10-15 minute performances
WHEN: Saturday, October 13, 2018
WHERE: DeFremery Park (this is an outdoor stage in an open park)
PERFORMANCE STIPEND: $300 for solo performers; $600 for group acts.

ALL SUBMISSIONS DUE BY MONDAY, AUGUST 20 2018. Keep in mind this is an outdoor festival for an audience of all ages. Dynamic performances with music and movement are especially encouraged to submit.

REQUIRED DATES FOR PERFORMERS and OTHER ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- All performers must be available 10 AM -- 5 PM on Saturday, October 13th, to allow the curators to optimize the flow of the line-up.
- The window for the mandatory sound check for the stage is 10 -- 11:30 AM (may be adjusted). Confirmation of performance time slots will happen in early October.
- We are scheduling a group walk-through of the space with the entire stage line-up on Wednesday, October 3rd, from 6 -- 9 PM. This walk-through is mandatory -- only one point person per group is required to attend.
- We regret that the Life is Living Theater Stage is not wheelchair-accessible. Access to the stage requires walking up steps with a handrail.
