12th Annual CoolTech Intent to Compete
2020 COOLTECH CHALLENGE OVERVIEW
The 12th Annual CoolTech Challenge engages teams of up to three rising 9th through 12th graders in a peer-to-peer school-based competition. There are 3 categories for submissions this year. There are three general categories for the most unique and impactful 1) Design an app or website 2) Design and Build a functional app 3) Design and Build a functional website.
For the three categories, students are encouraged to be as creative and innovative as possible and to think about how their ideas and projects can have an impact on a business, a community, their family or their daily lives.
HOW DO STUDENTS QUALIFY?
Students must be in 9th grade through 12th grade.
Students must be enrolled at a high school located in Northeast Ohio or be home-schooled with the primary residence in Northeast Ohio.
Students must follow all submission guidelines.
Student teams can include 1,2, or 3 students maximum.
All student teams must have a designated "Advisor" - either a faculty member, staff member, or volunteer endorsed by the primary faculty member.
WHEN DOES IT RUN?
Friday, January 10, 2020: Intent to Compete Forms Due
Monday, January 13, 2020: Challenge Launches
Monday, February 10, 2020: Project Submission Link Released
Friday, February 28, 2020: Submissions / CoolTech Showcase Registration Due
*Complete project documentation and project uploads per specific uploading requirements must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. on February 28 to be considered for judging*
Monday, March 2nd – Friday, March 13th, 2020: Judging Process
Week of March 16th, 2020: Judges feedback sent to advisors
Wednesday, April 22, 2020: CoolTech Showcase (daytime) – Venue TBD
Thursday, April 23,2020: Best of Tech Awards (evening) – Venue TBD
