Cornell Climate Stewards Application
The Cornell Climate Stewards Training is a volunteer training program created to help local citizens become leaders in the field of climate change science, adaptation, and mitigation for their community. The Climate Stewards program is a collaboration between Cornell, CCE, and Sea Grant staff from across NYS. The program will equip local volunteers with knowledge, communication techniques, and strategies to work with the public and local governments on climate issues.

As a part of the CCE Westchester system, volunteers will learn about local climate efforts in Westchester County and how to further help our communities implement effective change. Officially certified volunteers may work with CCE staff on future relevant programming.  

Cornell Climate Stewards commit to a training course covering 10 climate modules and facilitated project planning and implementation. Upon completion of the training course, Climate Stewards are expected to independently volunteer at least 40 hours outside of class to become a certified "Cornell Climate Steward". Class time and volunteer hours are required.

Class dates, times, and formats for the 2026 Climate Steward training program will be announced shortly.
