FRIENDS OF THE ARTS MEMBERSHIP & VOLUNTEER FORM 2018-19
Friends of the Arts (FOTA) is a group that supports Fine Arts at The Lovett School, which strives to promote the development of student talent, both individually and collectively, while striving to provide an education that promotes creative learning and excellence in the arts.  

Whether your child is new to the arts, is involved in one of the many Fine Arts classes, including Sculpture, Photography, Film, Painting, Drawing, Theater Arts, Design & Production, Chorus, Orchestra, Band, Ellington Jazz Ensemble, Dance, and many more, or is part of our Conservatory of Music or Visual Arts program, our continued success depends on YOU. Over 90 percent of our students participate in the Fine Arts programs during the school year.

We hope you will consider becoming a volunteer for one of the many Friends of the Arts (FOTA) committees and showing your support by becoming a FOTA member. The Fine Arts programs are a crucial part of Lovett's philosophy of educating the whole child.

Have fun while sharing your talents and getting to know your fellow Lovett parents!  Lovett is fortunate to offer our students numerous opportunities in a wide range of fine arts, so it's important that we help support the many needs of those programs, and hope you'll join one of our exciting committees today.  It's truly a rewarding experience, greatly appreciated and ultimately a gift to our children.

Here's a description of each committee:  

FINE ARTS PROGRAM:  Assist to procure and develop advertising for the Lovett Fine Arts Program published in October.​  

MEMBERSHIP:  Work with Membership Chair to solicit FOTA membership.  

FOTA NEWSLETTER:  Write articles and help compile information for the FOTA newsletter. We would like a volunteer from each of the school divisions to update LS, MS, and US activities.​  

LIAISON:  Support the Fine Arts faculty and students. Help to organize performances, usher, feed students, and plan year-end recognition, among other duties. Each grade-level or division needs liaisons:
Band, Chorus, Dance, Drama, Orchestra, Visual Arts.

SPIRIT COMMITTEE:  Volunteer at Fine Arts events by handing out spirit items and help staff events and performances. This is a fun committee to help promote all areas of Fine Arts throughout the school.

FOTA ART SHOW:  Assist the FOTA Art Show Chairs in planning and hosting the art show, opening reception, and other related events in November.

SPRING ARTS FESTIVAL/"WEEK OF THE ARTS":  With the guidance of the Spring Arts Festival Co-Chairs, coordinate participants, work with teachers and students, help with art prep, and staff the week-long festival in April.  

HOSPITALITY/RECEPTIONS:  Work with the VP Liaisons and Secretary to plan, host, and/or provide food for receptions and other FOTA events.​ This will include decorating the holiday tree outside the theater.  

CONCESSIONS:  Coordinate and staff concessions at plays and musicals.​

PHOTOGRAPHY:  Take student head shots for performances and assist in their display.​
