Welfare & Safeguarding God's People
2 sessions: Fr Timothy Curtis & Tina Lowe
This workshop - intended for Welfare Officers - will explore and discuss (in a safe place) the following: our Deanery policies; what experience we have as a team of Welfare Officers; and identify steps forward that help each of us to implement the policies.
Bible Study Group
2 sessions: Mary Hodson
Angels. An examination of the work of the holy angels in scripture, and their role in the history of salvation.
Pigrimage: Saints & Sacred Spaces
2 sessions: Vivian Wright
This workshop has three underlying questions: what is - and what isn't - pilgrimage? why do it? and how does it make a difference to our lives? Two pilgrims will share their experiences (Mount Sinai and Walsingham) but we also want to hear from other pilgrims: how has pilgrimage shaped your spiritual journey?
How to Pray
1 session (repeated), Saturday and Sunday: Fr Julian Lowe
This is a workshop consisting of one session only - repeated the following afternoon. It will be a low-tech exploration of what we can do to develop our prayer life and come closer to God: how we can pray, where we can pray and what we can pray. What is available to us that we might nourish and develop the soul?
Singing Prayer: for complete beginners!
1 session, Saturday: Claire-Marie Curtis
This workshop is intended for those who don't currently sing in a choir, but who would like to explore (with other like-minded beginners!) what are the aims and objectives of singing - in the services of the Orthodox Church - with particular reference to under-resourced small parishes/communities.
Parents' Forum: Children & Church
1 session, Sunday: Elie Hériard & Viktor Mastoridis
An informal forum for discussion and sharing ideas about being a spiritually healthy parent and raising Orthodox children in everyday life. Topics: personal and family prayer, fasting, going to church; reading the Bible or lives of saints etc.
Children and Young Adult Programmes
We provide two programmes at this event: a Children's Programme for ages 4-10 and a Young Adults Programme, for 11-17. This year the help of the parents with the Children's Programme will be crucial, as many of the regular volunteers are not able to come.
