The next session for CJRD begins on February 5, 2020.
Please re-register even if you have paid for the full year!!!
Calgary Junior Roller Derby practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 6 - 7pm at the West Hillhurst Community Association located at 1940 6th Ave NW.
Our league is co-ed and is open to youth skaters aged 6 - 17. We are an inclusive space and do not discriminate based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or class.
Your skater will be required to bring their own roller skates, protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards), mouth guard, and helmet. If for some reason you are unable to provide these items for your child, please contact
and we will see if there is anything we can help with.
The cost for registration is $50/month ($250 in total for the session), or you can prepay for a 5 month session at a discounted rate of $200/session. We also accept KidSport funding and/or JumpStart. Otherwise, please pay via etransfer to
for $200/session, or you can opt for the $50/month payment structure if you prefer. Payment for the $200/session rate are due February 29th and if not paid in full by that date, you will be moved to the $50/month structure. It is your responsibility to ensure that the payments are made on time and that KidSport is approved in time to make that deadline.
Please make sure to put your child's name in the notes section of the etransfer and that the payment is for CJRD
Every skater is also required to attain RSC insurance. It is $65/year and the instructions will be emailed out to you prior to your due date.

Volunteering is an expectation of all members, it is what makes the league function. A $100.00 volunteer deposit cheque is required and will be cashed at the end of the session if you opt not to volunteer. Alternatively, it will be destroyed once volunteer duties have been fulfilled.

Co-Chair - This is a shared position in charge of scheduling and facilitating board meetings. Serves as an ex-officio member of all committees
Secretary - takes detailed notes at board meetings & distributes minutes after approval from the board
Merchandising - handles ordering of jerseys and various forms of merchandise for all parades and games
Fundraising - schedule meetings for the fundraising committee, organize fundraising, look into casinos and 50/50 draws etc.
Finance- collect and keep track of dues. track insurance payments and present finance reports at board meetings
Communications - social media communications - twitter, Facebook, instagram, live feed for games, promoting of games and updates
Scheduling - update Team Snap with scheduled games, invitationals and events
Events - plan team building events, communicate with CRD for crossover events (Lilac festival, games, etc.)
Training - People interested in coaching or have already coached
Juniors Liasion - needs to be a CRD member and attends all CRD board meetings bringing back all information and requests
Public Relations/sponsorship - arranges opportunities for publicity, keeps in contact with the CRD PR committee
Volunteering - Keeps track of and arranges all volunteering for our volunteers
NSO - Learn all NSO positions and train members. Work with the Volunteer committee for scrimmages and games.
Officials - Must be a skating official
Risk Management - ensure all proper first aid supplies are available at all practices, scrimmages and games. Work with CRD, anyone with CPR, first aid training to ensure they are available at games etc.
JRDA - ensure that registration for the league is in place keep in contact with JRDA, Western Canadian Rep, and our board.
Graphic Design - logo updates, sit on sub-committee with CRD. Have basic design skills for a potentially a website.
Space Booking - ensure that practice space is booked or cancelled.
Grievance - this is an ad hoc committee. Be familiar with the grievance procedure as outlined in the CJRD handbook
