Match Supervisors - Genuine Cup 2026

Would you like to be part of the Genuine Cup 2026 (GC2026)?

The Genuine Cup is a one-of-a-kind international soccer competition featuring teams of players with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who represent iconic clubs such as Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, PSG, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Corinthians, Inter Miami, and many more. This year, we're bringing 50 top clubs from 50 nations to Houston!

What are we looking for?

We are seeking volunteers to serve as Match Supervisors, one of the most important roles that keeps every game running smoothly and fairly.

What would you do as a Match Supervisor?

  • Matchday operations: You'll be stationed at the halfway line table during matches, managing the official scorecard throughout the game, including lineups, substitutions, goals, and any infractions.
  • Referee coordination: At the end of each match, you'll check and verify the scorecard together with the referee to ensure accuracy.
  • Live updates on tournament official app: You'll update the tournament app in real time as the game progresses, keeping results and match data current for teams, staff, and followers. It is really easy thanks to our software.
  • Fair Play System: You'll be in charge of the Fair Play System, recording positive and negative conduct in accord with Genuine Cup Fair Play regulations. This system is a core part of the tournament's values and one of the most meaningful responsibilities of your role.
Requirements
  • Availability: Good availability from Monday, July 28th, through Saturday, August 1st, 2026, during match hours. We will prioritize those who can attend every/many days, but one day is already great (see question below for available slots).
  • Age: High School Junior or older.
  • Soccer knowledge: A basic understanding of soccer is required. Previous experience as a referee, scorekeeper, or in a similar official role is a plus.
  • Attention to detail: You'll be handling official match records, so accuracy and focus matter.
  • Tech comfort: Ease with using a smartphone app to input live data during matches.
  • Training: Able to attend one virtual training session upon selection. The Genuine Cup uses a custom tournament rulebook, so you'll be asked to review the regulations before the competition begins. Don't worry, we'll make sure you have everything you need!

  • You can expect innumerous hugs, high fives, amazing new friends and a purpose and memories for the rest of your life!!!
