What is this all about? We are calling for Founding Parents who share and shape with us the experience of a new, first of its kind self-directed education community in the heart of Cairo, Egypt!
You can consider us an unschool or an alternative to school! We are an independent, self-directed, communal learning space. We are also an Agile Learning Center, a global expanding network of self-directed education micro-schools. What does all of this mean? We are independent enough to not abide by any pre-set, institutional curriculum, compulsion or standardization among students; and micro enough so that every learner can have an individualized relationship with their learning facilitator and have their own customized learning plan that supports them to explore their passions and interests.
We are communal in the sense that we are a learning space for children, tweens and teens ages 7 - 15 years old. Our community consists of children, learning facilitators, parents, volunteer grandparents (wisdom council), and resource people with specific expertise in different areas of knowledge.

Founding Parent Role: In this project, we are not looking for parents who receive a service of education. We are looking for collaborators to co-create a learning community with. We are looking for parents who would support us as a founding team, who would collaborate with other parents to create the dream education experience for their children.
Founding parent roles may include but is not limited to any of the following: -volunteer to come and play with the children or offer yourself and your expertise as a resource person, offering a workshop, a class or a trip-volunteer in one of the school's working groups according to your areas of interest and expertise (for example, lead a working group on fundraising or partnerships or finance ..etc) -volunteer to build and strengthen the parents community, lead workshops or gatherings to build ties and engagements among the parents. The previous are just examples and we are opened to whatever you think is the role you can best play.
