Bidding Farewell to Dean Brigety
Ambassador Reuben Brigety, Dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs, has been named vice chancellor and president of the University of the South, Sewanee, and will be leaving the Elliott School community at the end of May.
Throughout his time at the Elliott School, Dean B. has impacted the entire community of students, alumni, staff, faculty, and friends. Students attended his staple Jazz with Dean B. sessions while others found time to meet him for his weekly coffee hour. Beyond the classroom, alumni found an opportunity to catch him in one of his signature bowties at events around the world.
Dean Brigety left a lasting mark on the Elliott School and the experience of so many community members. From the creation of the Leadership, Ethics, and Practice Initiative and the Institute for African Studies, to stories of "Hamilton", horseback riding, and "Downton Abbey", his legacy at the school reaches far and wide.
In advance of a community-wide celebration on May 27, we hope you might take a few moments to share some words about a way that Dean Brigety affected you, or share your well wishes to him as he moves on to his next endeavor.
