Thank you for your interest in the Privateer Farmers and Artisans Market. Our market is located outside the Visitor Information Centre on the Liverpool waterfront in Queens County, Nova Scotia, and runs 9 am-1 pm every Saturday from the May long weekend to the end of October. We also hold an indoor holiday market in November/December. For the outdoor markets, vendors must supply their own tables, tents, tent weights and anything else needed for their display.

Vendor spaces are designed to accommodate one 10 by 10 tent. Vendors need to be set up and ready to sell by 9 am, and are expected to remain until the market closes at 1 pm. There are washrooms available on site. Table fees are $20/week with a market membership ($25/annually) or $25/week without membership. Holiday market fees are $25 per market for members, and $30 per market for non-members. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PRIVATEER FARMERS AND ARTISANS MARKET

It is expected that all vendors will read, understand and follow the Code of Conduct and Rules for Privateer Farmer's Market.

The Privateer Farmers’ Market provides a dynamic opportunity for the sale of local farm products, food products and for artisans’ wares.

The purpose of this code is to ensure the market environment is enjoyable, safe and secure for the public, vendors, and all market participants.

As a vendor of Privateer Farmers’ Market, I will:
- Conduct myself in a courteous and respectful manner towards the public and all market participants.
- Refrain from any behavior that interferes with the rights or working and selling opportunities of other vendors. If I am questioned about the manner in which another vendor operates, I will direct that person to the vendor.
- Speak to the market manager if I have a problem with another vendor rather than confronting another vendor.
- Speak to the market manager before adding a product outside my usual category.
- Refrain from using language that is offensive, threatening or intimidating to others.
- Refrain from smoking within the market area.
- Operate vehicles or equipment in a safe and responsible manner; remove vehicles from parking spaces close to the park before the market begins at 9 AM.
- Respect and adhere to the rules and regulations established by the Privateer Farmers’ Market.
- Not participate in the market while under the infuence of alcohol or drugs.
- Agree that membership in Privateer Farmers’ Market is not transferable without board approval and that market spaces can’t be lent out or sub-let. If this Code of Conduct is not followed there will be consequences as per our disciplinary process.

I have read and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct for Privateer Farmers' Market *
MARKET POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

The purpose of this market is to provide a place for local producers to sell their own products.

In order to create an atmosphere that is pleasant and enjoyable for both the vendors and the public, the following policies must be observed by all vendors:
- All vendors must fill out an application form and be approved by the board of directors.
- All vendors must read, sign, and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct.
- Vendors will be held personally responsible for obtaining any legally required permit necessary for the sale of the products they will be vending.
- All food and beverage vendors must comply with food safety regulations.
- Vendors must supply their own tents and tables. Vendors are required to provide weights that are sufficient to hold down their tent.
- Vendors must arrive well before the 9 am opening time in order to set up their stalls and remove their vehicles (see below) before the market opens to the public. Vendors are expected to remain at the market, with tables set up, until 1 pm.
- The Region of Queens Municipality asks that we not park on the grass, block access to the parking lot, or leave any debris on their premises. (Vendors are also expected to park their vehicles away from the immediate vicinity of the market after unloading and setting up to provide convenient parking space for the market’s customers.)
- Vendors are required to display prices for their products either in the form of a general price list or individually priced items
- Our market encourages a diversity of vendors to provide our customers with the best selection possible and we do not guarantee that there will be only one vendor per product category. However, the board reserves the right to limit vendors to keep the product selection balanced.
- This market is intended for primary and secondary producers.
- The market board of directors welcomes community groups and service organizations to apply for a complimentary table, to a maximum of two markets in a season. If a group wishes to participate in the market more often, a fee of $10 will be charged for each subsequent market. The Privateer Farmers Market board reserves the right to make exceptions to this rule.

Basic Vendor Criteria

1. Each vendor at the Privateer Farmers’ Market must be a primary or secondary producer.
2. All products sold by non-food vendors (artisans, crafters, etc) must be of their own production.
3. A minimum of seventy five percent (75%) of product sold by food producers at the  market must be of the vendor’s own production and the remaining (25%) must also abide by product guidelines per market during the market season (Noncompliance will be addressed by the Manager and President.)
4. There must be an available spot in the appropriate producer category. The determining factor in placing a vendor in a primary or secondary category is the source of the vendor’s raw materials.
- Primary Producer: a producer that grows or harvests raw materials for direct sale or manufacture into secondary products.
- Secondary Producer: a producer that purchases raw materials for local manufacture into secondary products
- Sale of products neither grown, raised, nor made by the vendor are prohibited. Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the board in order to supply the market with products not currently available from member vendors. Example: bringing in apple cider from another Nova Scotia producer may be permitted if no member of the market is able to supply that product. All such exceptions must be approved by the board on a case-by-case basis. No vendor may exceed 15% of their overall sales in such products.

- The board reserves the right to rescind permission to resell products when a member vendor becomes able to produce that product.
I have read and agree to abide by the Policies and Procedures for Privateer Farmers' Market *
