A Sukkah of Love Registration!
A Sukkah of Love: A Creative Harvest - LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Celebration
Saturday, September 25th, 8 PM, near Broadview Station
The Sukkah is compared to a chuppah - a canopy of love, connection, and joy. At this Queer-Centred, Welcoming-to-All evening, we'll engage queer-hearted and queer-minded ways of celebrating and re-imagining this festival of abundant harvest, love and creativity, and welcoming in Ushpizin - spiritual ancestors guests, and each other. This 6th night of Sukkot if connected with the sefirah/spiritual quality of Yesod - the quality of connection, intimacy, and devotion.
You are encouraged to bring a poem, song, spoken word piece or other jewcy, creative offering in some way connected to this quality. Bring a picture or creative representation of a queer ancestor who embodied this quality in some way to hang in the Sukkah. We'll mark the end of Shabbat with a brief Havdalah ritual.
This will be a majority outdoor event with a cap of 50 people maximum. We request that you please wear a mask as this is a private residence.
This event is in partnership with: the Danforth Jewish Circle, LGBTQ at the J, and Alex Richler.
The East End address will be shared upon registration. The location is accessible by TTC and the Sukkah is accessed via a flat, paved driveway and some grass.
