Increment The Quality Of Your Everyday Life
Meditation is a practice, that most of us may have associated with post-post-retirement plans ;-)
This Sunday's we have arranged a talk about Vipassana Meditation, where we can take a fresh look at it. Is it merely some puritan pursuit, or it is really practical in the tough issues and tight schedules we deal with every day? Is it relevant to a common man?
At the end of it, of course you're welcome to retain your earlier ideas if you like! This is an invitation for you to take that <del>ridiculous</del> ....er... bold... step of seeing if there's anything more than what you already know about it! ;-)
We are familiar with various disciplines that improve the quality of one's life. Various activities like aerobics, yoga, martial arts, gardening, painting, photography, music - each of them add their own value to our life. Depending on our interest we might have taken it up (or given up ;) ) at some point.
And each of them have their dependencies on external factors. An activity like our profession where we earn our livelihood - it depends on machinery & electricity and our physical faculties. Or a hobby like photography requires a camera, light, eyesight. Music requires a musical instrument, a quiet place to practice. Even the simplest thing like yoga requires a mat, a place to practice, and of course some basic physical fitness.
Given the interest and pre-requisites, and one's priorities that keep fluctuating over time, we might be practicing or have practiced one or more such activity in the past to add happiness to our life (and others also).
Unlike these familiar acitivities/hobbies, meditation goes beyond mere personal interest. It directly addresses a more fundamental aspect - your peace and happiness, independent of ever-changing circumstances. Dependencies on external factors is virtually nil. An extreme example is the case of someone who helplessly was going through some painful procedure in an ICU, but could meditate even then and significantly reduce the suffering aspect of the situation.
In usual every day life, work life or family - it integrates and enriches every aspect of our life - enabling us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Please RSVP below the total number of guests from your side.
