Regulatory approaches to sexual violence on screen: a trans-Tasman comparison
This seminar offers a comparative overview of how sexual violence on screen is regulated in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Drawing on recent literature, policy frameworks, and diverse media examples, this presentation examines how each country navigates the challenges of regulating sexual violence in both legacy media and online content. By highlighting key similarities and divergences, the session invites reflection on how regulatory responses map to cultural and political contexts, and what the two countries can learn from each other in tackling emerging forms of screen-based sexual violence.
