Mandatory Fees and You
Graduate workers at UW Madison pay $641.08 in mandatory fees each Fall and Spring term and $315.06 for the Summer term. International graduate workers pay an added $100 every term. For many of us, this amounts to returning one in every ten dollars of our income back to our employer.

Building off of last semester's successful Mandatory Fee Payment Flexibility campaign, the Teaching Assistants’ Association demands that the university commit to and take explicit steps toward providing full coverage of mandatory fees for all graduate workers.

Your voice is important as we build our campaign together. We should not be forced to pay these unreasonable fees to do the university's work. We want to hear how you would use your $1500 this year if the university took responsibility for covering mandatory fees for all graduate workers.

We will share our stories as we work with Associated Students of Madison and the Faculty Senate to pass resolutions calling for the university to cover mandatory fees for graduate workers, a part of our platform on graduate pay and fees.
