Hi Picklers,

You're receiving this email because you've registered in an event for the Chilliwack Pickleball tournament this weekend.

Here's a few bits of information:

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Our aim is to have people play as many games as possible, so each category will consist of a round robin, followed by a singles elimination playoff. This should ensure everyone gets at least 4 games of round robin play. Depending on the number of teams in your category, your category may be split into multiple pools.
NOT EVERYONE WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFF. Only the top players in a pool category will make the playoffs, and the number of people to make the playoff will depend on how many teams are in a particular category.

PLAYER CANCELLATIONS
If you cannot play, please notify us ASAP

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY
Singles is on Friday evening, and both Men's/Women's Doubles (morning) and Mixed Doubles (afternoon) are on Saturday. NO GAMES ON SUNDAY

REFFING
You do not need to referee games. Normally sanctioned tournaments require refs for all played games, however there's an exception for newer tournaments where many players have never reffed before. So only Metal games will have referees and we will need people to volunteer for that.

WATER/BATHROOMS/SHOWERS
There is a water fountain/bottle filler by the main entrance close to the washrooms. There are also showers available if you would like.

NO FOOD IN THE COURT AREA/GYM
Food is only allowed outside of the court/gym area so that the mess can stay as far away from getting onto the court surface.

PLAYER FEES
Please check your player fees at the link below and confirm that you are registered for the events you want. Please bring exact cash if possible, checks can also be accepted if you are unable to do cash.

REGISTERED EVENTS
Please check to make sure that you're registered in the events you want. If your name is not shown, you are signed up. If you're playing doubles, you and your partner are shown on the same line.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Please take care of your personal belongings and leave anything of value in your car. There are sometimes the odd homeless individual that makes their way into the building, so please be aware and keep an eye out.

Thanks and we look forward to a great tournament!
Take care,
Ryan.

You're receiving this email because you're registered for our tournament this following weekend Sept 22-23rd. My apologies for those of you that have been kept in suspense!!
A FOLLOW UP EMAIL WILL BE OUT SHORTLY WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

!!!!TOURNAMENT CATEGORIES!!!!
Please check the registered players list HERE to make sure you're registered for all the categories you wish to play in (Singles, Men's or Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles). If your name it not there, you HAVE NOT registered for it.
Since many of you have never played in a Sanctioned Tournament before, knowing exactly your skill level can be tricky, but I encourage you to look at those in also registered in your event. If you feel someone is playing down when they should be playing up (for instance playing in 3.5 when they should be paying 4.0), please let us know. Changes won't necessarily be made, but we would appreciate the feedback.

Friday Evening Fun Play
Singles will be played on Friday night, but we will only be using half of the facility for that and will be opening up the other half for recreational play. So feel free to come and play for free Friday evening at 6PM.

***The times listed below may change slightly. All play times will be confirmed in a a follow up email.***

Registraions for Singles on Friday Evening will begin around 6PM with play beginning shortly afterwards. I would encourage you to be there 20 minutes before that. All Skill levels will be starting simultaneously.

Registration for Men's & Womens' Doubles will begin Saturday MORNING at 8:00am with play starting shortly afterwards. Please register as close to 8am as possible so that play can begin as soon as possible. The following categories play in the morning. All skill levels will be starting simultaneously.

Registration for the MIXED Doubles will begin Saturday AFTERNOON 1PM with play starting shortly afterwards (or whenever lunch is over). Please register as close to am as possible so that play can begin as soon as possible. All skill levels will be starting simultaneously.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME EVENTS ONLY HAVE 1 OR 2 TEAMS REGISTERED. AS A RESULT WE WILL CONTACT THOSE TEAMS LATER TODAY TO DECIDE IF THESE EVENTS SHOULD STILL BE PLAYED.

FOOD & Lunch
Snacks and finger foods will be provided. Lunch will also be provided free of charge to everyone. Lunch will consist of chilli, buns, salad, etc.

ATTENDANCE
If you're unable to come please let us know as soon as possible. Your attendance (or lack there of) affects everyone else in your category. Being late also delays games for the other people in your event. So please respect your competition

SET UP
If you would like to help set up or clean up we'll be there in the Friday late afternoon. Any help cleaning up once all play has finished would be greatly appreciated.

PLAY ETIQUETTE
Please show respect for your fellow Picklers by refraining from abusive talk, dangerously aggressive play (diving into another court/game to make a shot), or not giving your opponents the benefit of doubt when making line calls or enforcing rules (stepping in the kitchen). Please stop play immediately and replay the point. We all want to win, but not at the expense of someone being injured or offending each other. The rule when it come to calling a ball in or out has to be conclusive - if there is any doubt or uncertainly, the ball is considered in.
